Student Awards

Admirality Award

In line with adapting to the online and remote educational set-up, the school has decided to give a special  award at the end of the school year to her students who have been exemplary and outstanding in their online  classes and duties as students which we call the Admiralty Award.

As we know, students who have been “remarkable and outstanding in living the virtues of a Southridge  gentleman” are bestowed with the Student Award at the end of every year. The criteria for the Student Award,  however, considers both the academic efforts and the observations made by teachers regarding a student’s  attitude and his comportment with his batchmates, teachers, and other members of the school community.

Given that the latter criteria (i.e. personal observations) will need to be done in an in-person or face-to face set-up inside the classroom and outside (e.g. school events, student seminars, out-of-campus and outreach  activities and batch initiatives), the school has created a new and special award for this school year with a criteria  based on certain behavioural manifestations of the Southridge virtues that are applicable and observable in an  on-line set-up.

The PAREF Southridge Admiralty Award (or simply the “Admiralty Award”) will be awarded to those  students who have been exemplary especially in Adaptability, Responsibility, Self-Discipline and Fortitude  given the new challenges of this school year.

 Academic Awards

After evaluating the adapted academic honors and awards criteria for this school year, the Academic Council  (AC) has decided to amend it in order to properly and promptly recognize students who performed outstandingly  well in their academic subjects during a particular grading period in the online set-up. The AC is pleased to announce the  introduction of the Academic Excellence Honor Card to be given following these provisions:

  1. Grades 1 to 10 (Day School and Afternoon School). The Academic Excellence Honor Card will be  given at the end of Terms 1, 2, and 3 to Grades 1 to 10 students whose general term-end average is at  least 95, with the term-end grades in all subjects (including component subjects) being at least 85.
  2. Senior High School. The Academic Excellence Honor Card will be given at the end of the First and  Second Semesters to Grades 11 and 12 students whose general semester-end average is at least 95,  with the semester-end grades in all subjects being at least 85.
  3. Electronic Copy. The honor card will be emailed to the awardees and their parents. When appropriate,  the awardees will be recognized in an online student assembly.
