School Seal and Song

The Southridge Seal is an escutcheon with a boat: the Vinta on the upper left hand with three stars above it, in a blue background, and the Helm, on the lower right hand, in a green background. The Southridge Seal defines the soul of the school and the standards upon which it was founded.

The blue represents both the sky and the sea, which complements the idea of a boat. The color is also associated with freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. It also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, and intelligence. All important ideas that are related to education. Green is universally associated with nature. It represents growth and renewal, being the color of spring and rebirth. And as a school, growth as a human being is the goal, and every level in a person’s educations represents a new beginning.

The Vinta, a sturdy, ethnic Filipino boat represents the Parents for Education Foundation (PAREF). This symbol appears in all the seals of PAREF schools. It illustrates the school as the vessel, which will take the students in their journey, through innocence and uncertainty, to the shores of profound maturity. The three stars above the Vinta identify the pillars that comprise the Southridge Family: the Parents, the Teachers, and the Students.

PAREF’s philosophy of success is anchored on the dynamic interaction of these stakeholders, with the parents as the impetus in achieving its ideals of formation and education. The emphasis on personal formation relies on the parents and teachers leading by word and by deed.

The Helm is the wheel or tiller by which a ship or boat is steered.  The helm is Southridge School’s symbol, which links it to the idea of the Vinta. The symbol represents the school’s primary objective of helping its students be mature and independent individuals. The helm represents the objective to guide and direct the students to achieve excellence in every endeavor.

Viriliter Agite or “Act in a manly way”. This motto defines the spiritual and  mental maturity in all students enabling them to respond to the challenges of being Gentlemen and Leaders.
